Alan Duty, Mike Ricciardella and Mike Davis

The Planet Pool end of the year championship was hosted by Triple Nine Billiards in Elkridge, MD on Saturday February 18th 2012. A strong field of 32 came out to play with players like Mike Davis, Alan Duty, Matt Krah, Shaun Wilkie, Ryan McCreesh and player of the year Brett Stottlemyer.

Leading the top half of the bracket was Alan Duty with wins over Steve Lingafelter 9-3 , Shaun Wilkie 9-8 Abdullah Mohammad 9-2, and Matt Douglas 9-8. Leading the bottom half of the bracket was Mike Davis with wins over Brett Stottlemyer 9-1, Megan Smith 9-3, Ryan McCreesh 9-6, and Matt Krah 9-6.

Playing for the hot seat was Mike Davis vs Alan Duty. This was a one sided match with Mike Davis winning easily 9-3 and sending Alan Duty to the one loss side. Waiting for Alan Duty was Shaun Wilkie. This was a rematch from earlier in the tournament. This was a great match but when it was all said and done it was Alan Duty knocking Shaun Wilkie out of the tournament with a 7-5 win to get to the finals.

In the finals it was a rematch from the hot seat with Alan Duty Vs Mike Davis. Alan Duty had to beat Mike Davis twice in order to win the event. But it only took the first set for Mike Davis as he won 9-7 to win the match and the event.

Nicole Vincent, Megan Smith and Lai Li

The Women's Division end of the year championship was hosted by Triple Nine Billiards in Elkridge MD on Sunday February 19th, 2012. A strong field of 17 players came out to play including Megan Smith, Lai Li, Nicole Vincent, Linda Shea, Pauline Mattes and Sharon O’Hanlon.

Leading the top half of the bracket was Megan Smith with wins over Cheryl Squire 6-5, Linda Shea 6-3 and Tina Morfessis 6-2. Leading the bottom half of the bracket was Lai Li with wins over Judie Wilson 6-4, Kia Sidbury 6-5 and Sharon O’Hanlon 6-5.

Playing for the hot seat was Megan Smith vs Lai Li. This was a one sided match with Megan Smith winning easily 6-1 and sending Lai Li to the one loss side. Waiting for Lai Li was Nicole Vincent. This too was a one sided match with Lai Li winning 5-0 to get back to the finals.

In the finals it was Lai Li vs Megan Smith. Lai Li would have to beat Megan Smith twice in order to win the event. The first set was all Lai Li winning 6-4. In the second match it was Lai Li jumping out to a 3-1 lead but it was Megan Smith bearing down coming back to win the match 5-3 and the event.
